Crossed over Re-up

"Yup. Ponies. I've been meaning to draw MLP:FIM related stuff for ages, but I didn't have time.
So, instead of drawing the actual characters, I drew some crossovers, because for some reason I love me some crossovers (look into my shitty gallery, there is precedent).

Invader Zim and Dexter's Lab. Zim, because I'm still in love with that show, and Dexter because my friend did one and I wanted to one up him (because I'm a jerk (stole his cutie mark design too)). Might add more characters...maybe.

Ultimately though, this is more than just indulging my fandom whims. I usually have a hard time adapting to another art style, so I thought this would be a good exercise for me. How on model do you think they look? Perhaps I should try with the mane six, that would be a better test.

I tried to ink these in Flash to make it more authentic but lawdy I dislike inking in Flash, I need a lot more practice with it, so I used Photoshop instead.


**Here is where I have put too much thought into this**
If you're wondering, Dib is a blank flank not because I couldn't think up a cutie mark for him, but rather, him being a blank flank at that age makes him more pathetic, especially since his younger sister has hers. And Dib is always funnier when life does not go his way. Same reason why Gaz is a unicorn whereas he is an Earth pony, makes it even easier for her to screw with him, and makes life harder for Dib.
And more importantly, I had the un-animated episode Mope of Doom in mind, where Dib gives up paranormal science in favor or Real Science, partly due to his own failure and partly to please his dad. This suggests that he truly hadn't believed in himself up to point and so would have a paranormal based cutie mark here in this drawing, until the end of that episode, where he reconfirms his desire, and would gain a Swollen Eyeball cutie mark. Told you I put too much thought into it.

There's two Zim's here because I couldn't decide which I preferred. I thought up that Zim's cutie mark would obviously be the irken insignia but instead of normal cutire marks they'd be stamped and imprinted upon birth.

Yeah, so. Ponies, how'd they get so awesome? Lauren Faust and the cast and crew, bloody geniuses to turn something so insipid into something so good. It single handedly made me reconsider learning to animate in Flash, which I had written off and ugly animation (yes, I know, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was well animated too, but ironically it never captured my imagination similarly).

So, I finally update after 3-4 months and it's fanart. One of these days I'll learn to be a real artist."
